Does It Matter If You Train Your New Puppy?

You have just gotten you new puppy home. Dog obedience training is the last thing on your mind. Oh, you know you will have to housetrain your dog but that is no big deal.

You envision what your life is going to be like now that you have a new best friend. Your anxious to take him to the park with you so you can run and play together through the green meadows. He will go ever where that you do and he will always stay by your side so you don't even need him on a leash.

He might even be a best friend to your daughter or son. They will spend the summers running together and getting into mischief the way a kid and their dog are supposed to. Life is going to be so wonderful!

Then the truth comes out.

Your well mannered dog refuses to go to the bathroom outside and thinks your couch is the best place to sleep. He is suddenly to good for dog food and scours the counters for his feast. Your new carpet has become is favorite digging hole.

Forget the fact that your dog has a zillion chew toys and bones laying around the house, the sides of your recliner are so much better to chew on. He is constantly barking at everything including his own shadow and your dreams of owning a well behaved dog are vanishing.The constant barking is driving you batty. If you do dog training barking is first on the list.

So what do you do now?

Well you can't get rid of the blasted dog because even though he is a monster he has the saddest eyes that he stares up at you with when he's in trouble. He really loves you and you him.

If only that silly dog would behave (even a little)!

Well the answer to your problem my friend is dog obedience training and I'm not just talking about taking him to a dog training class a handful of times and hoping for the best. Dogs need constant training to get well behaved but it is not as hard to do as you might think.

Dogs really love to please so when you two finally figure out how to properly communicate and he knows what to expect, he will go out of his way to make you happy.
